Liverpool and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Liverpool have been exceptional at home for a while, avoiding defeat in their last 31 games at Anfield and notching 26 wins in that run, suggesting they should be too strong for Brighton. However, they have conceded in ten of their last 11 home matches and could be breached by the Seagulls who have scored ten goals in their last four meetings with the Reds.

Liverpool 3-1

Reason for tip

Liverpool have been in ruthless scoring form at home recently, netting 32 goals in their last nine matches at Anfield, and should put a few past Brighton, who have conceded eight in their last three away games. However, the Seagulls have scored on their last four visits to Liverpool and should be backed to find the net in defeat.

Alexis Mac Allister To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Alexis Mac Allister has scored in his last three appearances for Liverpool having been given a more attacking role by Jurgen Klopp in recent weeks and he could continue that fine run against his former side on Sunday.

Liverpool vs Brighton Predictions

  • Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 31 home matches, winning 26 in that run
  • Brighton have lost only one of their last eight clashes with the Reds
  • Both teams to score has been a winning bet in ten of Liverpool’s last 11 home games

Liverpool likely to extend unbeaten run

Liverpool are right in the thick of the Premier League title race, level on points with leaders Arsenal and one point ahead of third-placed Manchester City, and they will be eager to take the initiative by beating Brighton to move to the summit, with their rivals facing off later in the afternoon.

Their form at Anfield has been exceptional for a while now, with their unbeaten run in front of the Kop now standing at 31 games, and they should be too strong for a Seagulls side who have lost their last three home matches without even finding the net.

That record will spell bad news for Roberto De Zerbi and it is difficult to see anything other than a Liverpool win playing out, although Brighton’s recent record against the Reds will offer some encouragement to the Italian manager and Seagulls fans alike that they could at least have something to cheer on Sunday.

Recent record can boost Brighton morale

Brighton have lost just one of their last eight meetings with Liverpool, avoiding defeat at Anfield three times in that run, suggesting they may have enough to at least trouble their title-chasing hosts.

The Reds’ defence has been far from solid this term, due in large part to a spate of injuries having been without the likes of Joel Matip and Andy Robertson for large parts of the campaign, and both teams to score has been a winning bet in ten of their last 11 home games.

Elite goalkeeper Alisson and key defenders Trent Alexander-Arnold, Matip and Robertson are all absent for this clash, which will further boost Brighton’s confidence that they can find the net on Merseyside.

Jurgen Klopp is a master motivator, however, and the German should get a tune out of his side to shake off any fears of a hoodoo when they face Brighton. The Seagulls should find some joy at Anfield, but given Liverpool’s excellent home record and the visitors’ run of five losses from their last six away games, it is difficult to see De Zerbi’s men avoiding defeat on Sunday, even if they do find the net.

Mac Allister may haunt former employers

While Brighton may find the net at Anfield, it could be a familiar face who costs them the points on Sunday.

Former Seagull Alexis Mac Allister has scored in his last three games for Liverpool and also ended the international break by netting against Costa Rica for Argentina.

He is in fine form having been given more freedom to roam forward following the emergence of Wataru Endo in the defensive midfield role and he could come back to haunt his former side on Sunday.
